Convertible Evoque? You mean I get the quality and presence of the already proven baby Range Rover, the marvelous suspension and design, the excuse not to carry annoying children/friends/family members AND the wind in my hair? Sign me the fuck up.

As I just said on the front page, everyone complains about the same old shit coming out, and then Range Rover releases this, and all people do is complain.
Fuck it, I think it’s great. Throw on a rollbar and call it a day.

No

I’d buy the hell out of that.

I look forward to hearing how the hell you’re gonna armour it.

It’s the same thing with the X6M X4M and so on. “oh, SUVs are for offroading, this will only go to the supermarkets and shopping centers, why is it so fast?” Honda releases a rugged and sensible SUV “aah, it’s so beige and boring, LS SWAP IT BROH, why is it automatic? BLAH BLAH BLAH”
I don’t care anymore.

If my friend can armor his glass-roofed SL63 AMG, I can armor that.

So would any person who actually likes cars.

On the internet, no one is happy. I’d take an X4 M if it was given to me, no complaints.
I’m curious as to the number of people who complain about the lack of manuals who can actually drive manual or purchase manual vehicles ( disclaimer: I can’t drive stick ).

I am a card and I found that offensive towards my paperople

I honestly didn’t think the old Evoque could get any more gorgeous and then they released this and I had a small anyeurism and ripped a bit of hair out knowing I’ll never have one.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 21:16 |

Some things should be manual, and same shouldn’t. I can drive stick because the majority of cars on our roads are manuals (only because they are cheap). I own no manual cars.

The real question, would you buy this one?
![]() 11/08/2015 at 21:17 |

Children/friends/family are going to want an explanation as to why you can’t fit them in those passenger seats.

You can have one, wait until they depreciate and buy the one a 70 year old lady used to go from her yoga class to her bridge game once a week.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 21:18 |

No, because that is ugly. If it looked nicer I’d buy it.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 21:19 |

Because my luggage is there, seing as the boot is completely occupied by the folding roof and spare tire.

This is the part of the conversation where your wife reminds you that the Luggage bags that came with the Evoque Cabrio were designed to fit in the trunk with the roof down. She also takes them and shows everyone before you can stop her. “See? Now there’s plenty of room for all of us!”
![]() 11/08/2015 at 21:35 |

SHE CAN KEEP THAT DAMN BAGS, I WANT A DIVOAHRCE KAREN.

I think I’m just going to go for a Murano CrossCabriolet. Much more refined.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 22:01 |

I’d buy it if I was in the market for such a thing. Definitely way sweeter than the only other comparable model I can think of....a roofless Jeep. But I just despise canvas roofs on convertibles. Ever since we as a species mastered the convertible hardtop, why bother with canvas?
![]() 11/08/2015 at 22:10 |

I like that it’s something different. Not something I’d buy but I think I’d enjoy driving it for a bit.
On a side note, does Nissan still make the Murano Crosscabriolet?
![]() 11/08/2015 at 22:19 |
|
No. I don't think they could sell any.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 22:24 |

I think it’s fine to like this. I mean, if you do, you do. The thing that I would find amusing is if someone was laughing along with DeMuro when he ridiculed the Murano cross cabriolet and is now gushing over this, because I don’t see any difference. I do think this is a gutsy move for Land Rover to make this after seeing how poorly the Nissan performed. But maybe they have reason to think sales will be different in their market segment, which is decidedly different than the Murano’s.

I just thought it was fun knowing when this thing was coming and seeing it actually happen. I can tell you that the Defender will be returning to the U.S. in the near future as well.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 22:35 |

Add the drivetrain and clearance of a Defender, plus a rollbar suitable for some off-roading, and you have decent competition to those outrageously overpriced Jeep Wranglers.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 22:37 |
|
The Defender will probably come in a few years, but probably in a Jeep Renegade sorta way unfortunately.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 22:39 |

I completely get your point. But what Honda SUV is “rugged and sensible”?
![]() 11/08/2015 at 23:33 |
|
The Evoque costs $18k more than a Wrangler.
EDIT: A fully-optioned 2-door Wrangler is $45,000, only $3.5k more than a completely base-model Evoque.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 23:50 |
|
Which is ludicrous. The Wrangler is the most overpriced car average people buy these days... All the unlimiteds are insanely expensive.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 23:57 |

A $24,000 Jeep is overpriced so the way to combat that is with a $42,000 Range Rover? What?

Do you also own a Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet?
And can convertibles be armored?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 02:40 |
|
And if it can’t be armored, I suggest for your Plan B, you do what Wile E Coyote did:

No
Yes

How about if we put some lipstick on it. Would that make it pretty enough for you to buy?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 03:02 |

Why did you put lipstick over it’s eyes?
